Nope, when I had 1.8 HGT long time age I was frustrated with fuel consumption because the 5 gears were short ratio and screaming at 70mph, I was thought of fit six speed gear at that time I did not find any other Fiat spec six gearbox would fit to this. I went for 1.9 HGT because of the long gear ratio, 70MPH at 2,100 rpm. Do someone know if the gearbox of the 147 1.6 , 156 1.8 or barchetta 1.8 will fit on the punto hgt? Or is it only possible to put the internal part in the housing of the punto hgt. In my opinion, the internal part of different alfa engines descended from the 1.8 is pretty much the same. Only the housing is different in some cases.

Personally I would tune the 1.8 and if thats not enough go for a low blow system by rotrex, but 200bhp from a 1.8 n/a punto is plenty, you will have trouble getting the power down and want to spend all the money on chasis tuning. Contact Clovertech, they are a fiat and alfa specialist in London and who I use when things get too difficult.
