If you eventually become a car enthusiast and tinker around and fix cars, they are awesome. Don’t let one be your first sports car experience unless you’re handy. On the 330 engines, less than 700 rpm is too low and would reduce low end power to an intolerable level. You have to ask other m43 users to find what the normal idle is. The higher rpm at start is normal.

That's why it is like that. Check your fluid level first thing, continue driving will cause serious tranmission damage. (As a guide, auto trans should be filled to when the fill plug is, just enough from spilling out) This should fix most chocking problem when driving around.
